Cadet Officer Andrew Bakira

Cadet Andrew Bakira Ruyondo has been awarded the prestigious International Sword at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom. He graduated alongside 44 others. Officer Cadet Ruhamya Kainerugaba, son of Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, also graduated from the academy on Friday, completing the prestigious Officer Commissioning Course. The CDF was present to witness the ceremony.

Bakira was decorated with the Sword, joining a rare group that includes former CDF Gen. Wilson Mbadi.

“Walking in the footsteps of General Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, who in 1991 was awarded the Queen’s Sword for best overall cadet (international and others). Congratulations to Bakira,” said social critic Daniel Bwambale.
