Police at Old Kampala Police Station have launched investigations into a double murder that occurred on the night of December 16, 2025, in Kawempe Zone, Kisenyi III Parish, Kampala Central Division.
According to police, the incident happened at around 11:00 p.m. and involved a 30-year-old male suspect, identified as Emma, also known as “Young,” a Burundian national and resident of the area.
Preliminary information indicates that the suspect allegedly attacked and killed two fellow Burundian male adults, aged approximately 30 and 20 years. The first victim was reportedly attacked while returning home from work as a hawker. Police say his neck was cut, leading to instant death.
After the initial attack, the suspect is alleged to have moved approximately 300 metres to the second victim’s residence, where he attacked the victim while asleep, similarly cutting his neck and causing instant death.
Following the attacks, the suspect reportedly inflicted serious injuries on himself by cutting his neck. Members of the public intervened, restrained him, and alerted police. He was found in critical condition and rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where he remains under treatment and police guard.
Police officers visited and documented both crime scenes, recovered two knives suspected to have been used in the murders, and recorded statements from witnesses. The bodies of the deceased were conveyed for postmortem examination.
Authorities are still working to formally identify the victims and trace their next of kin, as investigations into the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
Further details will be released as inquiries progress, police said.
