The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has maintained a firm grip on examination integrity this year, with no reported cases of exam leakages during the ongoing Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) 2025 examinations. UCE will end on November 7, 2025.

In previous years, the Board battled fraudsters who claimed to have access to actual exam papers, targeting private schools to extort money from school owners. However, for the past three years, UNEB has successfully curbed such malpractice.

According to UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule, this success is largely attributed to continuous public sensitization and awareness campaigns that have empowered the public—particularly private school administrators—to identify and report fraudulent activities.

“Unscrupulous people used to exploit private school owners by pretending to have UNEB exam papers,” Kalule explained. “Through media sensitization and tightened security measures, the Board has managed to silence these fake operations.”

With UCE exams nearing completion, UNEB has now shifted focus to the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), scheduled for Monday and Tuesday next week.

Kalule confirmed that the Board is fully prepared for the exercise, noting that 817,930 candidates are set to sit for the 2025 PLE—an increase from 797,444 candidates last year. This year’s cohort comprises 389,557 boys and 428,373 girls.
