Equity Bank main branch at Church House.

For a long time, Equity Bank Uganda has had a rough time on social media regarding its operations.

Many of these centre around missing money from clients accounts.

One of the newest cases involves a client @Evanzlrs on X.

According to this X user, he deposited Shs 1,033,715 on July 1, 2026.

To his shock, the money never on his account 24 hours later.

This prompted him to reach out to the Bank.

He, however, says that he got no support. As a result, he took the matter to X (formerly Twitter).

Greetings to you, Mr Admin @UgEquityBank. Attached is a transaction I made yesterday with an amount of ugshs.1033715 deposited to my account in Equity. Today, when I tried making a transaction 5 attempts failed, on checking my balance found a negative balance of over 400m which I don’t think you as a bank can give out a loan of that amount.

I’m requesting you guys to put back my hardly hustled little money. Thanks.
Guys help me push this until it reaches those responsible

Now, following social media pressure, the money has suddenly reflected.

My account has been credited with the exact sum of money that I had deposited on 1st July.

Thanks so much, @UgEquityBank, for turning up here. I never wanted to post this, but your silence when I reached you via mail forced me to bring this to the people’s Parliament.

Kindly stop calling me and blame the person who didn’t answer my mail. Those are the unprofessional individuals that put your bank at stake.Blame him or her for the damages caused.

To my people thanks for the collective support. I never expected this much. In case of any support always count me in.

By press time, Equity Bank Uganda had not made any formal communication regarding the matter.
