Police in Napak District are investigating a suspected murder after a man allegedly assaulted his two children, killing his 2-year-old daughter and seriously injuring his 5-year-old son following a domestic dispute.

The incident occurred at about midnight on September 20, 2026, in Kalopidinga Village, Namendera Parish, Iriiri Sub-county. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Logiro Daniel, a peasant and resident of the same village, allegedly became violent after asking his wife, 23-year-old Mudong Christine, what food she had prepared for the children.

According to police, Christine told her husband that there was no food, prompting him to assault her before turning on the children. She reportedly fled to her mother’s home for safety. When Christine returned to the family home at about 6 a.m. with her mother, she allegedly found her daughter, Adyaka Anna Grace, dead, while her 5-year-old son, Lokut Israel, was seriously injured.

The matter was first reported to the area LC I before being taken to Iriiri Police Station, where a murder case was opened. Police officers visited and documented the scene, recorded statements and issued a PF3 medical form for the injured child, who is admitted at Iriiri Health Centre III.

The body of the deceased child was conveyed for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death. The suspect reportedly fled the area after the incident, and police said efforts were underway to trace and arrest him.

Regional police spokesperson for Mt. Moroto and the Karamoja North territorial area, Mike Longole, condemned the incident and urged communities to report domestic violence before it escalates. “We condemn acts of domestic violence and call upon the public to resolve misunderstandings amicably and report domestic violence early to Police or local leaders,” Longole said.

Police have appealed to anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or local authorities.
