Nguna

By Marvin Ocol

By sitting down to write this piece, Sandra Elizabeth Nguna, is no longer single. Pageantry and marriage are like a Muslim and the other animal. They don’t meet. After being crowned Miss Tourism Busoga in 2019, Nguna finally handed over office some time this year after a 2-year journey.

The Gazette is aware that after handing over the office of Miss Tourism – Busoga, she openly let marriage interest be known. Her man, Mathias Ssessaazi was ready and during the second Covid-19 lockdown, preparations carried on. On the weekend of November 27, 2021 or thereabout, Nguna paraded her man to her parents’ home in Luuka and a week later, to the altar at Victory Church, Namungoona. Over 200 of her guests were later treated to a lavish reception at the Pearl of Africa Hotel Ballroom in Kampala.

While making a speech before a mammoth gathering, Nguna recalled how she met Ssessaazi. It was so many years ago at Joy Dominium Academy. At the gate, to be specific.

“He wasn’t a gateman,” she clarified with humor, “I was with my Mom. I was just passing and he too, was just passing”. That was it.

As we write this, Nguna is now struggling with two things. 1. How to fit her man’s name into hers (Elizabeth Sandra Nguna) and 2. fulfilling her mother-in-law’s request for twins.

The Gazette will be here to update on the last bit in 9 months from the time of writing this article.
