Brian Mulondo
KAMPALA — Veteran radio host Brian Mulondo has resigned from 93.3 KFM, bringing to an end a nine-year stint at the Industrial Area–based radio station where he became a household name through the popular KFM Breakfast Show.
Mulondo made his final appearance on air on Tuesday morning, marking the close of a chapter that began in 2016 when he joined the Nation Media Group–owned station.
Tributes quickly followed his departure, with Joseph Beyanga, former Head of Radio at Monitor Publications, praising Mulondo’s work ethic, professionalism, and creative discipline. Beyanga recounted numerous instances that underscored Mulondo’s commitment, including occasions when he travelled long distances under difficult conditions yet still reported to the studio on time to deliver the morning show.
“In my time at KFM, I don’t think I worked with anyone as hard-working as Brian Mulondo,” Beyanga said, describing him as a selfless creative who consistently put the quality of the show and the growth of his colleagues ahead of personal recognition.
During his nine years at KFM, Mulondo worked with three different female co-presenters across different generations and backgrounds. According to Beyanga, despite the pressures and occasional personality clashes that come with competitive radio environments, Mulondo maintained professional humility and focused on teamwork, helping his co-hosts shine and ensuring a strong on-air product.
Beyanga likened Mulondo to a “box-to-box midfielder” in football terms — a versatile creative force who understood both content and the commercial realities of radio broadcasting, balancing audience engagement with client satisfaction.
Beyond radio, Mulondo maintains an active profile in Uganda’s creative and media industry. He currently serves as Head of Local Content at MultiChoice Uganda and is also the Chief Executive Officer of Garage Group, a creative agency.
Mulondo has not yet publicly disclosed his next steps following his exit from KFM, but industry observers expect him to continue playing a significant role in Uganda’s media and creative sectors, given his experience and influence.
His departure marks a notable transition for KFM’s flagship morning show, with listeners now awaiting an official announcement on changes to the station’s breakfast programming.
