By Executive Editor

Last Saturday, the Embassy of Cuba in Uganda extended a special recognition to the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

His recognition came during the close of the National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba at the Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono.

The meeting brought together Ugandan personalities, institutions and organizations linked with the Movement for Solidarity with Cuba, with emphasis on the participation of Ugandan youth.

Presided over by the Vice President of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa; Peoples, organizations and institutions, very closed to the Diplomatic Mission during the last years and also involved in the Solidarity Movement with Cuba, were recognized.

These included among others Gen. Muhoozi.

Gen. Muhoozi was recognized on grounds of being active on social networks and being heavily followed by young people, and deep admirer of the life and work of Fidel Castro, as regularly reflected in his articles.

“He is also the artisan of the annual celebrations of Fidel Castro’s birthday in Uganda,” part of the citation reads.

Kasambya County Member of Parliament, David Kabanda, received the recognition on behalf of Gen. Muhoozi.

“I am very grateful for the recognition from the Cuban government. Long live the fraternal relations between Uganda and Cuba. Viva Cuba! Viva Uganda!” Gen. Muhoozi posted on X after receiving the recognition from Kabanda.
