The government will pay examination registration fees for all candidates under the Universal Primary Education (UPE), Universal Secondary Education (USE) and Universal Post-O-Level Education and Training (UPOLET) programmes, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has announced.
According to UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo, the intervention covers all eligible candidates in government-aided schools, while private candidates will continue to meet their own registration costs. Private candidates are required to pay 34,000 UGX for the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), 164,000 UGX for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and 186,000 UGX for the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
Heads of examination centres have been advised to ensure that all qualifying candidates are registered within the normal registration period to benefit from the government support and to avoid any late registration complications.
