A luxury Rolls Royce valued at Shs 3.5 billion has recently entered the country to serve as the official car for the office of the Speaker of the 12th Parliament. The vehicle, intended to be used by the next Speaker, became public knowledge after controversy arose when current Speaker Anita Among reportedly resisted paying the required taxes on it.
According to sources, the standoff over tax obligations delayed the clearance of the vehicle until President Yoweri Museveni intervened, paving the way for its release. The car is expected to be used as the official ride of whoever is elected Speaker in the 12th Parliament, with Anita Among and Norbert Mao among the leading contenders for the position.
