Supporters of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) are preparing to table a petition seeking the removal of Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among from her position as the party’s 2nd National Vice Chairperson.
Political activist Anderson Burora announced that the petition will be presented next week, arguing that the office Among holds is a highly reputable party position that demands unquestionable integrity. Among is currently under investigation over the rapid acquisition of wealth, a probe that has intensified public scrutiny of her continued tenure in top party leadership.
The planned petition, if formally lodged, is expected to test the NRM’s internal accountability mechanisms and its tolerance for growing calls to act on corruption allegations against senior officials.
