3/07/2026 — Police dog Gaza has drawn public attention after helping investigators track and arrest three men following an animal-cruelty incident in Kitenga Sub county, Mubende District.
According to Wamala Region Police spokesperson SSP L. Kigozi, the case began when a farm worker found a bull deeply cut on the head on the morning of 2/07/2026 at Lukaya LC1, Bugonzi Parish, after the animal had reportedly been injured the previous day.
The matter was reported to Kyenda Police Station, and the scene was preserved before Gaza was brought in to track the suspect trail. The dog followed a blood-stained panga in a maize shamba, then tracked to the home of Tumusiime Steven, where a blood-stained gate and signs of disturbance supported the search. Police later arrested Tumwine Amos, Aijuka Caleb, and Abaho Joshua, who reportedly confessed to injuring the animal.
Authorities urged the public not to harm stray animals and to seek compensation through proper channels, while also warning against contaminating crime scenes, saying good preservation is key to effective investigations.
