Recently, we reported how a youthful NUP official had declared interest in the Makindye West MP seat to challenge an NUP MP, Allan Ssewanyana. Earlier, we also reported that Muhammad Nsubuga had bee assigned to manage Bashir Kazibwe in Kawempe South. Kazibwe, too, is an NUP Member of Parliament.
Now, reports indicated that the NUP spokesman Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro has an eye on the Nakawa East MP seat. Ronald Balimwezo (NUP) is the incumbent. It is not clear if Balimwezo will seek reelection.
However, Mufumbiro has his foot in Nakawa East.
At the weekend, he was in the constituency.
“Boots on the ground! Comrade Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro is a great leader. The people of Nakawa East will thrive under his leadership as our next Member of Parliament! I have been on the ground with him today and witnessed his greatness,” posted Pius Jadwar.
It is, however, not clear why a party official would go for a seat for a fellow party member.
Recent media reports indicated that Kavule was not happy with a section of its MPs in the current House for, among other reasons, getting in bed with the ruling party.
