Police in Rubirizi District have launched investigations into the suspected murder by stabbing of a 50-year-old man following a dispute over meat sharing. The victim, identified as Tumwebaze Joachim, a resident of Mubanda D village in Ryeru Subcounty, was attacked on the night of May 28, 2026, at around 9:00pm.

According to police, Tumwebaze reportedly got into a serious disagreement with the suspect, who allegedly stabbed him before fleeing the scene. The victim was rushed to Rubirizi Medical Centre but was pronounced dead on arrival. Officers secured and processed the scene and later transferred the body to Rugazi Health Centre IV mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

Regional Police spokesperson SP Tayebwa Apollo said investigations are ongoing and appealed to anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station to aid swift arrest. He condemned acts of lawlessness, assured the public that the perpetrator will be brought to justice, and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
