A suspect has died in police custody.
The deceased has been identified as Tom Chelangat, 32.
It is alleged that on October 29, 2024, the deceased was detained at Kapnarukut Police Post over the case of removal of boundary marks, vide SD ref 7/27/10/2024, Kapnarukut Police Post. His statement was obtained. So at about 1630/c, one Spc Chemonges Nebon; upon checking on the suspect, Chelangat, in the cell, he found him hanging inside.
Sources say that Chelangat used his shirt to hang himself.
By press time, the body of the deceased was at Kapchorwa main hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
