Nameere
Masaka Woman MP Justine Nameere was arrested Friday evening and remains in security custody.
Well-placed sources say her arrest is linked to alleged threats she made to guests of Defence Minister Jacob Oboth Oboth, who was on Thursday endorsed by CDF Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as a candidate for Speaker of the 12th Parliament, while Nameere backs incumbent Speaker Anita Among.
Nameere allegedly tried to dissuade MPs from attending Oboth’s swearing‑in dinner scheduled for Saturday.
Following these developments, Anita Among has suspended her own planned swearing‑in dinner that was also set for Saturday, with no new date announced yet.
