Kampala, April 21, 2026 — The Uganda Medical Association (UMA) has called on the public to refrain from speculation as investigations continue into the death of Kalangala District Woman MP, Hon. Helen Nakimuli.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, UMA President Dr. Frank R. Asiimwe said the association was “profoundly shocked” by Nakimuli’s untimely death and extended condolences to her family, constituents, and Parliament.

“As a fraternity, we remain unshakably committed to the highest ethical and professional standards,” Asiimwe said, emphasizing the responsibility of medical practitioners to ensure patient safety and uphold clinical protocols.

He noted that while healthcare providers strive to deliver the best possible care, medical science cannot entirely eliminate the risk of death, even under optimal conditions.

“It is a somber reality that even under the most diligent care and in the most unexpected circumstances, the risk of mortality can never be eliminated,” he said.

The association pledged to support any formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Nakimuli’s death, stressing the importance of transparency and scientific integrity in establishing the facts.

“To ensure clarity and maintain public trust, the Association stands ready to provide technical and expert support to any formal inquiry,” Asiimwe added.

He urged the public to allow investigative processes to proceed without interference or conjecture.

“Our priority is to pursue the truth and continually improve the medical services we provide to all Ugandans,” he said.

Nakimuli’s death has sparked public concern and calls for accountability, with authorities expected to provide further updates as investigations progress.
