Ntungamo – Shock and grief have engulfed communities in Ntungamo and Matugga following the sudden death of newlywed Kwasiima Lilian, who passed away just 12 days after her wedding.
Kwasiima died on Friday, January 9, 2026, after reportedly collapsing. She had been married on December 27, 2025, in a wedding ceremony held at the cathedral in Ntungamo.
Announcing the death, Rev. Nathan Mugalu described the loss as deeply painful and sobering.
“Death has robbed us of a bride we wedded on 27th December 2025 at the Cathedral in Ntungamo. The young lady collapsed and died today, leaving behind three young children and a young widower. Human mortality is real. Fear God and keep His commands, for that is man’s duty,” Rev. Mugalu said, quoting Ecclesiastes 12.
In another message, he added:
“Abanya Ntungamo, we were there for a wedding ceremony on 27th December 2025. We are returning for the burial of the bride on Monday, 12th January 2026. God’s ways are mysterious,” citing Psalm 121.
According to a death announcement issued by A-Plus Funeral Management on behalf of the family of Mr. Tumuhimbise Collins of Kiweebwa-Saayi, Matugga, Kwasiima Lilian was a beloved wife and mother.
A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen Church of Uganda, Luwande-Saayi on Saturday, January 10, 2026, starting at 4:00pm, followed by a vigil at the family home in Kiweebwa-Saayi, Matugga at 8:00pm.
Burial will take place on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Kahunga in Ntungamo District, beginning with a funeral service at 12:00 noon.
The sudden loss has left many in mourning, with messages of condolence pouring in from relatives, friends, and church members who attended her wedding just days ago.
