The Uganda Revenue Authority’s (URA) tax education drive, BUZZA KAMISONA, is gaining strong momentum on TikTok, with a single video posted recently attracting over 80,000 views and generating more than 100 questions from taxpayers.

The growth in engagement underscores the growing power of new media in demystifying tax issues and connecting URA directly with a younger, and tech-savvy audience.

URA Commissioner General John Musinguzi said the TikTok response proves that tax education must follow the audiences where they already are.

“Tax education is consistent, it never stops, and it has to be done in mediums the taxpayer understands and uses,” he noted, urging taxpayers to continue sending their questions via URA’s TikTok page, @URAUganda, as the authority refines and expands its digital outreach.

Currently, the programme runs on UBC, Bukedde and New Vision.

However, plans are underway to to reach more taxpayers across the country through regional radios, community barazas and digital platforms.
