One of the electric buses operating between Kampala and Ntinda
The government, through Kira Motors Ltd, is in the final stages of deploying buses on the Entebbe and Namugongo routes. Kira Motors recently deployed electric buses along the Kampala-Ntinda route.
The fares are cheaper by Shs 500 compared to the Shs 2,000 charged by commuter taxis. Payments on the bus are made through mobile money. Ntinda-Kampala/Kampala-Ntinda costs Shs 1,500 by e-bus express.
Now, sources say that after the Ntinda-Kampala route picked up, the operator is now in the process of deploying buses on the Kampala-Entebbe route and the Kampala-Namugongo route.
Our News Editor used the e-bus xpress between Kampala and Ntinda this Thursday evening. The bus was full to capacity. The buses are electric.
