RIP: Kimbugwe Najib
Tragedy has struck the Uganda Management Institute (UMI) community following the death of Kimbugwe Najib, a Master of Public Administration (MPA15) student, who succumbed to injuries sustained after being knocked by a boda-boda along Jinja Road in Kampala.
According to reports from fellow students, the accident occurred on Saturday, shortly after Najib left the UMI campus through the Jinja Road gate. He was hit by a speeding motorcycle while crossing the road. Despite the collision, Najib appeared to recover quickly, stood up, and even proceeded to Jinja Road Police Station with colleagues to record a statement.
He later visited Habi Clinic for a medical check-up, where he was declared fine and allowed to go home. The following day, Sunday, Najib attended class and sat for a test as usual.
However, on Monday, he began feeling unwell and was rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where doctors discovered a blood clot in his brain—a likely result of the earlier accident. Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated, and he passed away around 10:00 p.m.
Najib’s sudden death has left his classmates and lecturers at UMI in shock, with many expressing disbelief that a seemingly minor accident could turn fatal days later.
His burial took place today at 2:00 p.m. in Kireka, according to family and university sources.
Friends and colleagues have since taken to social media to pay tribute to Najib, describing him as a humble and dedicated student whose life was tragically cut short.
