Unopposed: Hajji Lumolo

NRM sub-county chairpersons in Sironko district have unanimously endorsed Hajji Suleiman Mafabi Lumolo as the sole candidate for the position of District NRM Chairperson, a seat he currently holds.

This endorsement was made during a meeting held today in Sironko District, where NRM sub-county chairpersons and opinion leaders gathered as Hajji Lumolo briefed them on the 2025–2026 NRM roadmap.

During the meeting, the chairpersons asked Hajji Lumolo whether he was still interested in retaining the district chairmanship, citing his strong leadership and long-standing dedication to mobilizing support for the NRM party.

The chairpersons commended Hajji Lumolo for his achievements since taking on the leadership role. Notably, they highlighted his personal initiative to acquire land and construct a permanent NRM office using his own resources.

Sironko now stands out as the only district in the country with a self-funded NRM office—an act the chairpersons described as a symbol of his generosity and commitment to the party.

“As sub-county NRM chairpersons, we appreciate Hajji Lumolo for always supporting us both individually and as a party,” the leaders said.

“We see no reason why others are expressing interest in the position when they need to account for their years they have been in power.”

The endorsement was backed by the District Executive Committee (DEC), sub-county chairpersons, opinion leaders, and youth representatives from the NRM.

In his response to the media, Hajji Suleiman Mafabi Lumolo expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him.

“I thank the sub-county chairpersons, youth leaders, opinion leaders, and DEC members for entrusting me with this endorsement.  I have worked tirelessly to mobilize for the NRM in Sironko. I even constructed an office on an acre of land in Sironko Town Council for the party’s benefit,” he said.

He further pointed to his efforts in following up on presidential pledges such as those concerning the late Wapakhabulo, Professor Nabudere, and infrastructure developments like the ongoing construction of the Namagumba–Budadiri–Nalugugu road.

“These accomplishments are why members have endorsed me as a sole candidate.  I urge those considering contesting against me to reflect deeply before stepping forward,” he added.

Hajji Lumolo also addressed rumors about political nepotism, clarifying that accusations regarding his daughter running for Woman MP were misleading because she’s an adult and he can’t stop her interests.

“Some claim I want my daughter to run for Woman MP while I remain party chairman. Ironically, the current woman MP is the district woman MP, who is also a state minister for Karamoja, and is now seeking to become the district NRM chairperson—trying to occupy three powerful positions. And yet I only hold one office as Lumolo.”

He concluded by calling on the people of Sironko to remain vigilant against those dividing the party.

“Let us guard the unity of NRM in Sironko as a whole. Be wise and vote wisely,” Hajji Suleiman Mafabi Lumolo said.
