A serious road crash has left multiple students injured at Busota near Health Centre III, where a Nalango students’ coaster collided with a sugarcane truck, adding to a tense day on Uganda’s roads. According to the accident situation update, several pupils suffered fractures and other severe injuries, with some reported in critical condition, while Kamuli District Emergency Medical Services evacuated the injured to health facilities and clinical teams worked to stabilize them.
The crash comes hours after the Kapchorwa tragedy that killed 24 people, underscoring growing concern over school transport safety. The update said, “The emergency and medical wards are receiving a high number of casualties, and clinical teams are working tirelessly to resuscitate and stabilize the injured while providing definitive emergency care,” adding, “Our thoughts are with the injured students and their families.”
