The Director of Crime Intelligence at the Uganda Police Force, AIGP Major General Christopher Damulira, has urged students under the Baganda Nkobazambogo Students Association to uphold the law, shun violence and participate peacefully in the upcoming January 15 general elections.

Gen. Damulira made the call while addressing students at Makerere University during a mentorship workshop focused on peaceful co-existence, national unity, election security and the promotion of national values.

He emphasized that young people play a critical role in safeguarding the country’s stability, urging them to resist provocation and avoid any actions that could lead to unrest.
“Adherence to the law is not optional. Peaceful participation in the electoral process is a responsibility for every citizen, especially the youth,” he said.

The senior police officer also cautioned students against the misuse of social media, warning that the platforms can easily be used to spread misinformation, disinformation and inflammatory content.

He encouraged them to verify information before sharing it and to use digital platforms responsibly, especially during the sensitive election period.
Gen. Damulira concluded by reminding the students that peace and unity are fundamental pillars of national development, urging them to become ambassadors of harmony within their communities.
