The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has delayed the release of the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results, raising concern among parents, candidates, and school administrators.
Last year, UNEB released the PLE 2024 results on January 23, 2025. With just 48 hours remaining to the same date this year, it is now unlikely that the PLE 2025 results will be released by January 23, 2026.
Although UNEB has not officially explained the delay, it is widely believed that the ongoing general elections may have disrupted the examination board’s usual timeline. Uganda went to the polls on January 15, 2026, for presidential and parliamentary elections, an exercise that has dominated national attention and strained public sector operations.
The delay comes at a time when many schools are preparing for admissions into Senior One, while parents and guardians await the results to make placement decisions.
UNEB is yet to issue a formal communication on the new date for the release of the results.
Schools re-open on February 10, 2026. Initially, schools were to re-open for term one on February 2, 2026. However, because of elections, the re-opening date was postponed.
