The slaughtered dogs were recovered from the suspects.
Police in Mubende have arrested two people for allegedly killing and supplying dog meat for roasting on the streets.
The suspects are James Twinamatsiko and Reponse Habimana. According to police sources, on June 13, 2026, at around 12:30 a.m., No. 58500 Cpl. Nkugwa Paul, attached to Mubende CPS, was on motorized patrol along Mubende Main Street in Mubende Municipality when he sighted a motorcycle registration number UGP 078K carrying a suspicious load in a polythene bag with a passenger.
When officers signalled the rider to stop, he refused, prompting a chase. Both suspects were eventually arrested, and a search revealed four slaughtered dogs.
The suspects allegedly confessed that supplying dog meat for ‘mchomo’ within Mubende Municipality is their daily business. They are currently detained at Mubende CPS on charges of injuring animals, vide CRB 778/2026.
