One person has been confirmed dead following a fight over rice at a funeral. 

The deceased has been identified as Ibrahim Mubiru. He was 40. 

It’s alleged that at around 1pm Nkokonjeru, Namaliga South, in Luwero. There was a funeral rite. The deceased had been hired to prepare rice. One youth, only identified as Wilber, came asking for food, yet he had been served before. The deceased declined to add him rice the second time. It was then that a fight ensued. The deceased reported the matter to police in Bombo. However, after leaving police, he became unwell. He was rushed to Global Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Some people have been arrested, vide SD REF: 25/31/08/2024, to aid the investigation as the hunt for the prime suspect continues.
