Kisoro By-Election: Grace Akifeza Ngabirano, the glittering gold and moneylender beautifying the NRM race

By Danstan Ocol

Probably the only candidate making Rose Kabagenyi sweat in and out, Grace Akifeza Ngabirano, a well-schooled wife, mother, and businesswoman, is the candidate to look out for in the forthcoming Kisoro by-election. Grace Akifeza Ngabirano is battling 12 others for the NRM party flag. Not only is Grace Akifeza Ngabirano beautiful (physically), her pockets too are beautiful, so they say. Akifeza, her middle name means “Gold.”

Born in Matinza Nyakabande Sub County, Kisoro District, she began her education at Matinza Primary School, then Seseme Girls, eventually earning her bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Nairobi University. She further pursued her passion for advocacy by obtaining a master’s degree in child rights from Kurt Bosch University, another master’s in gender development studies from Nairobi University, and a diploma in project management from Makerere University.

The loaded Kampala-based businesswoman, mother of four, who once worked with the United Nations in Nairobi before quitting to embark on business in Kampala, where she is one of the biggest money lenders in town. Her ultimate aspiration as political leader is to empower women and children, promote sustainable development, and drive positive change in her community. Akifeza continues to glitter and beautify the ongoing NRM joint campaigns in the hunt for the party flag.
