KAGADI: 8 Killed for Following Seventh Day Adventist Church

The Territorial Police in Kagadi, in conjunction with the joint security agencies, are investigating a tragic accident of murder that happened in the night of yesterday, October 29, 2024, at around 2200 c at Mizizi ‘A’ LCI, Mizizi parish, Kyaterekera Sub County, Kagadi District.

The incident claimed the lives of eight people, all of the same family, that have been identified as; 

1. Isakara Yokonia, 76 years old

2. Kabugho Elinora, aged 64 years

3. Munyirambe Boniface, aged 41 years

4. Baluku Ferdinand, a juvenile aged 13 years

5. Kabugho Oliver, aged 13 years

6. Masiika Kabagrnyi, aged 03 years

7. Kabugho Anita, aged 4 years and 

8. Muhindo Praise, aged 7 years.

Nine people were injured, and they include 

1. Biira Christine, f/a 24 years

2. Kakimwa Nipola, f/a 45 years

3. Nzabara Rogers

4. Bambi Joy, f/a 28 years

5. Zakaria Isaac

6. Birungi Biira

7. And the other two children are yet to be identified.

Preliminary information indicates that on 29/10/2024 at 2100/c at Mizizi ‘A’ village, Kyaterekera sub-county, Kagadi district, Munyirambe David, alias Richard, and Baguma Obed, all sons of Isakara Yokonia and Kabugho Elinora, attacked their said parents and other family members, cutting to death eight people and injuring eight more people, including those that had gone for rescue.

The two claimed that the religion of SDA Adventists, which their parents were believing in, was fake. And they wanted them to join the new religion, which they formed called God, Holy Spirit, Son, Man, as printed on their flag. 

 As police and army men responded in the night, they started pushing stones from the hills where they stayed with a view of injuring officers. The place was closed until morning when the officers approached the scene again, but the two still confronted the officers with pangas, and they were shot dead.

Army officers from Rubiri army barracks have reenforced the team. Exhibits recovered.

Ten bodies have been taken to the Kagadi Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem.
