A retired police officer has rolled up sleeves ahead of the 2026 polls.

Sula Kirunda is both a retired officer and an advocate. 

The constituency (Busiki) he is eyeing is currently represented in the 11th Parliament by Paul Akamba.

Akamba is currently battling charges, including corruption, at the Anti-Corruption Court. 

In June, Akamba was arrested together with fellow legislators Lwengo Woman Cissy Namujju and Yusuf Mutembuli of Bunyole East nearly two weeks ago.

They were on June 12 charged with one count of corruption related to negotiating and receiving kickbacks in the budget process.

It will be interesting to see how a police officer/lawyer will tussle it out with a person battling corruption charges.
