8 people have been confirmed dead following last evening’s heavy rains which resulted into flooding in Kisoro district.

The deceased are: Muhawenimana Gerida, 4; Ngabire Ivan, 2 (children of Kiiza Ivan Felesiano); Uwizeyimana Claudine, 30; Ntizandekura, 5 (daughter of Uwizeyimana and residents of Buzeyi village, Kolanya trading centre, Lukongi parish Nyarusiza sub county); Nyiransaba, 30; Musingize Marrion, 2; Mfite Rafiki, 5 and Mukamusoni, 4.

Eradukunda Joshua, 11, a son of John Nsenga John, of Buzeyi village is still missing.

Irene Nakasiita, the Spokesperson of Uganda Red Cross Society says emergency team has responded to the affected communities.
