Mid this week, President Yoweri Museveni promoted about 770 senior officers.

Five of these were promoted from the ranks of SCP to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.

They are: Richard Edyegu, Birungi Ruhuma Charles, Ocaya James, Nuwagira John and Fadhil Ali Kaali.

As it has always been, AIGPs become Directors of the different Police Directorates.

Five of these Directorates have been vacant.

These are Field Force Unit, Research and Planning, Interpol and Internal Relations, Operations and Logistics.

Well-placed sources say Birungi occupies Interpol as Director while Kaali is gazetted for FFU (field Force Unit). Others are Ocaya (Research and Planning), Edyegu (Logistics) and Nuwagira will occupy Operations as Director.
