Pallisa police are investigating circumstances under which their own, AIP Kaweesi George Williams, 45, attached to Field Force Unit in the district shot and killed himself two days ago.

This was just a day after he reported to the new duty station from Magamaga where he was in charge (OC).

Our sources say that two days ago, Kaweesi reported to Pallisa and was allocated a housing unit at the Barracks at Senior Quarters.

That he was helped by colleague officers to offload and enter his new house.

At the time, he was nicely dressed in uniform and was armed with an SMG.

However, a day later, he was not responding to repeated phone calls.

His wife, Hellen Akia, rushed to Pallisa Police Station and made inquiries, putting forward her fears.

Against the above background, a team was dispatched to Kaweesi’s house. No amount of knocks woke him up. This forced the team to open the window. Kaweesi’s lifeless body lay on the floor.

Exhibits of an SMG Rifle  with 29 rounds of ammunition with its  Safety Catch open and Pistol star with 14 Rounds of ammunition  and 1 in the  Chamber were recovered in the  room and an SMG Cartridge recovered in the room.

Regional Police Spokesperson Immaculate Alaso says an investigation into the matter is on-going and that the body is at Pallisa general hospital for a postmortem.
