By Executive Editor

The Bank of Uganda has finally replaced the Governor’s signature on the banknotes.

Until recently, the notes bore signatures of the former Governor, Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile.

However, new notes show that the signature has been changed. The notes now bear the signature of Deputy Governor, Dr. Michael Atingi-Ego.

Mutebile died in early 2022. The position remains vacant to date.

Uganda has banknotes in six denominations including 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000, 20000 and 50000.
