URA: City I.T Firm Boss Arrested Over Tax Fraud

Uganda Revenue Authority – URA – enforcement team has arrested a director of an IT firm.
The suspect has been identified as Fadhil Tibaingana, 37, an accountant and Director of Kintt Softwares & Technologies Ltd.
Tibaingana was arrested and arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court Division in Kololo on 14/March/2023.
Prosecution alleges that the suspect while operating in a tax fraud scheme took to trade in invoices.
Sources privy to the arrest say Tibaingana either issued invoices to a person he never sold goods to or claimed purchases of supplies he never actually bought, causing financial loss to URA.
The source says Tibaingana’s activities cost the government Shs 1,657,030,148 in VAT Value Added Tax).
He was charged and remanded to Luzira Prisons on eight counts of making false statements to a tax officer contrary to Section 58(1) (a) of the Tax Procedures Code Act, 2014.
