Financial Intelligence Authority gets new Executive Director

The Financial Intelligence Authority of Uganda (FIA-U) has announced the appointment of Samuel Were Wandera as the new Executive Director of the Authority.
Wandera replaces Sydney Asubo, whose nine-year reign ended recently.
Wandera is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist with extensive expertise in strategic planning and stakeholder management and a country peer assessor on anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing matters. He has a wealth of experience in strategic planning, stakeholder management, risk management, and financial analysis.
Wandera has previously served at the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development in various capacities, where he was involved in the setting up and operationalization of the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terorrism (AML/CFT) framework in Uganda. Until his appointment, he was the Director of Compliance and Training at the FIA.
