By Davis Mugabi

A Ugandan Goalkeeper at the weekend declined to play for his team in the Carling Knockout stages.

Jamal Salim plays for Richards Bay FC. However, he declined to play for his team on Sunday against Swallows FC.

According to Ugandan Sports Journalist, Peta Tabu, Jamal cited religious grounds for not taking part in his side’s 2-1 win over Swallows.

The League is sponsored by Carling Beer.

Tabu says Jamal argues that it is against the Islamic religious beliefs to promote/pose with Alcoholic beverages.
