The entire Makerere University Community is mourning the passing of one of their own.

The deceased has been identified as Joshua Bagenda.

Bagenda was a 3rd year student pursuing Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery at the College of Health Sciences, Makerere University.

Bagenda was in the Intensive Care Unit at the time of his passing. He lived with the sickle cell disease. 

“We have made a very big loss, losing such a humble soul,” former Guild President Margaret Nantabi said in a post on X.

Sabrina Kitaka, a lecturer in the College of Health Sciences, described the situation to have been “soon soon.”

“Forever in our hearts,” Mrs. Kitaka said.
