One person has been confirmed dead after a radio mast of 90.3 LBS radio in Dokolo town collapsed on an on-air studio during an interview. The radio belongs to Uganda’s ambassador to South Africa, and by the time the incident occurred, seven people were on-air (one host and six guests – local artistes who were popularizing their music show in Dokolo).
The deceased has been identified as Morris Olum alias Greaty Boy. Five others were seriously injured, and were rushed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.
LBS radio management says they will contact and work with the deceased family throughout “this challenging moment.”
They explain that the incident occurred at 7:30pm last evening when a thunderstorm hit the radio, and broke its broadcast antennas and part of its mast, “crashing into one of the studios.”
