Workers of top factories arrested for vandalizing high voltage power lines

Workers of prominent factories have been arrested for vandalizing electricity infrastructure.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, security agencies have so far arrested three suspects who vandalised the high voltage power lines in Nama Sub-county, Mukono District on December 8, 2022.

KMP says that the key suspect was arrested yesterday, three (3) KM from the scene of crime with the help of Police dog. He confessed to be the rider of scrap dealers whose names are withheld.

“He is providing us with useful information,” KMP Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango says.

Two other suspects were arrested this morning at around 0430 hours from Nakapinyi North Village, Kasenge parish, Nama Sub-county Mukono District.

The two have been identified as Fred Ayikobuwa, 22; a casual worker at Tian Tang Aluminum factory in Mbalala and James Apima, 19; a casual worker at Mehta sugarcane plantation, Nama.

The man hunt for other suspects are still ongoing, Onyango says.
